USCG 5 Service Stripes (20–23 Years of Service)
This United States Coast Guard 5-Service Stripe Hashmark represents 20 to 23 years of honorable service. These stripes are worn on the Service Dress Blue coat to show long-term dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the Coast Guard. The hashmark features five scarlet red service stripes on a blue background, made with durable embroidery for a sharp, uniform-ready appearance.
Correct Uniform Placement:
Sew on the left sleeve of the Service Dress Blue coat
Position the stripes at a 45 degree angle
The lower edge of the bottom stripe should be 2 inches above the cuff
This patch is sewn as a single piece, ensuring the stripes remain evenly aligned
If additional stripes are earned later, sew each new stripe 1/4 inch above the previous, maintaining the same spacing and angle
