Create or replace officer sleeve rank stripes with this 36-inch cut of 1/2-inch synthetic gold lacing. Designed for U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard dress uniforms, this lace is used in combination with other approved stripe widths to display an officer’s rank.

One 36-inch cut provides enough 1/2-inch gold lace to create one complete stripe around both uniform sleeves. Officers whose rank requires multiple 1/2-inch stripes should purchase one additional 36-inch cut for each additional stripe needed.

WHICH UNIFORMS USE GOLD SLEEVE LACE?

Gold sleeve rank stripes are worn on authorized U.S. Navy and Coast Guard dress uniforms, including applicable Service Dress Blue, Dinner Dress Blue, Formal Dress Blue, and women’s Dinner Dress White jackets.

HOW MUCH GOLD LACE DO I NEED?

Each 36-inch cut is intended to make one 1/2-inch rank stripe around both sleeves of a uniform jacket. The number of cuts required depends on the officer’s pay grade:

• Ensign, O-1: One 1/2-inch stripe
• Lieutenant Junior Grade, O-2: One 1/2-inch stripe with one 1/4-inch stripe above it
• Lieutenant, O-3: Two 1/2-inch stripes
• Lieutenant Commander, O-4: Two 1/2-inch stripes with one 1/4-inch stripe between them
• Commander, O-5: Three 1/2-inch stripes
• Captain, O-6: Four 1/2-inch stripes
• Flag Officers, O-7 through O-10: A 2-inch base stripe with additional 1/2-inch stripes based on grade

This product contains only the 1/2-inch gold lace. Other lace widths, service insignia, and sleeve devices are not included unless specifically listed as part of the selected product option.

COAST GUARD PLACEMENT GUIDANCE

For Coast Guard uniforms, the lowest horizontal stripe is positioned two inches above the bottom edge of the sleeve cuff. Additional stripes are placed 1/4 inch apart. The Coast Guard gold sleeve shield is positioned 1/4 inch above the uppermost stripe.
